Doomsday & Hope!

Week four at the Institute started off with a pessimistic view of the world situation due to the existence and control of nuclear armaments. (Sen. Sam Nunn) While Sojourner Magazine editor Jim Wallis saw a youth lead 'social movement' beginning to form as a counter to nuclear weapons.
At the United Methodist House a young energetic chaplain, Gretchen Hulse, from a Pittsburgh based inner-city ministry provided & demonstrated hope and promise for a chaotic world.
Several of our guests were participating in a writer's workshop sponsored by Highlights Magazine which was started by a member of the local Hurlbut United Methodist Church.
